Bloodborne Pathogens
Bloodborne Pathogen - Tuberculosis Exposure Prevention
If your workers potentially come in contact with blood or body fluids while performing their job tasks they may be covered by OSHA's Bloodborne Pathogen Standard.
The Bloodborne Pathogens Standard defines guidelines to protect workers from exposures and sets up requirements for employers to develop an “Exposure Control Plan”. This Exposure Control Plan specifies your company’s policies and procedures pertaining to Bloodborne Pathogens. Since occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens is a significant potential hazard, it is important that the employer provide appropriate training, protection and procedures to all employees at risk.
Tuberculosis (Tb), a serious airborne infection, is also an increasing concern for health care workers and first responders. There are recommendations for health care workers which include developing a written Tb exposure control plan, and providing training and respiratory protection of those employees potentially at risk.
NorthWorks Occupational Health has developed comprehensive Bloodborne Pathogen and Tuberculosis training courses designed to meet OSHA requirements.
- Training can be provided onsite at your facility, and each course lasts approximately one hour.
- All NorthWorks Occupational Health trainers have advanced expertise in Bloodborne Pathogens and Tuberculosis.
- Training is required annually for all employees who are potentially at risk for exposure for Bloodborne Pathogens or Tuberculosis while performing their job duties. There is no limit to the number of attendees per session.
- The trainer will review your company’s Exposure Control Plan, and tailor the training to meet your company’s needs.
